Country Weddings Down On The Farm: Special Considerations Unique To This Venue

As a popular wedding theme and venue, country weddings at farm wedding venues are on the rise. If you are considering this themed wedding option, you should know that it comes with a few special considerations. Here are those considerations to help you decide if you are going to choose this venue and themed wedding.

The Dry Cleaning Bill

If all of your groomsmen and all of your bridesmaids are wearing nice clothes to this wedding venue, there is going to be a very large dry cleaning bill to get the dirt and mud out of their wedding clothes before returning any rented suits and putting dresses in storage. Do not forget that there is also the issue of your own wedding dress. Unless you plan to "trash the dress," another popular wedding option as of late, you are going to have a very big bill to clean and preserve your wedding dress too. If you do "trash the dress," it is customary to throw the wedding dress out when you are done. If you do not want to throw out a dress you spent thousands of dollars on, consider a shorter wedding dress or a really inexpensive white dress to wear to your farm venue.

Everyone in Boots

When choosing the country-themed wedding, it is best if everyone wears boots. Country and western boots are best, but rain boots or farm work boots for guests should be suggested in the wedding invitations. Those are the least expensive and easiest to find of all boots. Dressy boots are not recommended because of the mud and other possible messy substances found on the ground at a farm. Some farm venues might offer rental of boots to wedding guests as a courtesy so that not all of your guests will have to find boots, but it is often first come, first served when reserving a pair.

The Wedding Dinner

Are you going to eat outside? If so, have you planned for unpleasant weather, bees, etc.? If you need to set up a large tent in order to eat your wedding meal, let the venue know far enough in advance so that the owners of the farm can clear a space for the tent. If you are also planning on picnic tables, decide how they will be arranged, and make a seating chart. Some farm wedding venues will also serve the meal, fresh off their farms, including garden vegetables, beef, and chicken. If you would rather have a catered meal, let the farm owner know.
